Friendship
On her birthday my Dove got a little book of friendship quotes from her friend. These little quotes sound so utopian and so far from reality that the first instinct is to ridicule them. Sweet talk of teens ! Huh... I know she is soon going to be entering a stage where her peers will be her universe. Friends, friends and friends...there’ll be no end to friends. Every trend will be decided by friends. No place for any one else in her scheme of things. It will take some time for her to understand what is real friendship and sift friends from her acquaintances.
So coming back to those quotes …after the initial inertia (which comes with age when you have seen so much of the “real” world) I must confess I liked quite a few. Let me share a few of them -
A real friend is the one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out.
One of the secrets of good friendship is the ability to accept the storms.
A true friend is the greatest of all blessings.
A friend is a present you give to yourself.
God bless the friend who just stands by!
Don’t let a little dispute injure a great friendship.
If you judge people you have no time to love them.
And
We lose part of our lives each time we quarrel with a friend.
This post is dedicated to all my friends …
Vistas
New vistas to explore - new session new experiences new promises and some old renewed promises. You don’t want to look at the immediate past because the pain still lingers on. You set foot to a new journey because whatever may be lost the hope is still there.
After the holidays school starts with renewed vigour and a new class. With an excellent board result I get some rewards. HOD English, Academic Coordinator and the class teacher-ship of a much senior class. Lot more exciting assignments await me. Trifle nervous…
That’s not all. I venture to a new path where I may get the final creative satisfaction, which I have strived for all my life. It’s time to create, create and create.
The Dove is happy and flutters her wings around me with hugs and kisses in what we call the – energy transfer routine from the blessed dove to her mother. The Aqua Genius – Is he happy? Not yet. But sooner or later I will make him proud.
In between there was a minor setback. No nothing serious just my birthday!!! I am a year younger now. Well the logic goes like this. I tell my age as so many years young. Now on every birthday a 1 is added to the previous figure. That means this year will be comparatively more than the last one hence the comparative degree younger. Well if you haven’t got the logic don’t bother simply believe that am a year younger now .
That’s about it for now.
Interpretation
The baby born to Indian parents in the land of distant US was to be christened “Angel” as this name will have some flavour of land of her birth. But the proud Indians as they were, they preferred Anjali to Angel. So Anjali she became.
Lot many hopes pinned on her. But she didn’t grow big enough to meet anybody’s expectations. She grew small and inconsequential. With closed brains and an open heart she let the time pass by. Opportunities, successes all passed by her side but never touched her. One day she read that her destiny was decided the day she was born. Her name meant two palms held together which implied that she was limited to get only a handful and nothing more. Pity, self pity.
Another day she came across a friend who had helped her tide over her difficulties. Just in passing she asked if he knew the meaning of her name. “Giving generously with both hands full,” pat came the reply. She was aghast. What was this? A joke? No, it could exactly mean what he said. Giving generously with both hands.
So now she sat reflecting. Everything in life is a matter of interpretation. She had thought of her life as a pitiable receiver whereas all it meant was to be a generous giver. That opened some doors, some vistas. Never would she think of her life as closed palms again. Some people come to show light in your life. That is what they are meant for. She could be one herself showing light to others. There are innumerable little souls that could do with little more light than they actually had.
She took a few steps forward. Her name, so beautifully gifted to her by her loving parents was now her greatest treasure.

The Red
Why does the red fascinate me? Is it the coolness of water surrounding it...

...or the flames of fire.
